Fwc Fish And Wildlife Research Institute issued the following announcement on Feb 17.
Did you know FWC has stocked almost 1 million Largemouth Bass into Newnans Lake over the last 3 years? Some of these fish should now be reaching catchable size! To help evaluate this stocking effort, tissue samples from each bass are collected during regular sampling and FWRI's fisheries genetics lab helps determine how many bass originated from the hatchery.
The 9 pounder observed recently, enjoyed a gizzard shad breakfast! We’ll know soon if it came from the hatchery!
