Coral Reintroduction – Two Weeks ‘Til MarineQuest2023!

Lean about science directly from our researchers! Join us at #MarineQuest2023, our family-friendly open house on February 18th! For more information visit our event page: https://fb.me/e/2eGsz96kY

To avoid infection of Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease, the Coral Rescue Project removed thousands of corals from wild reefs and took them under human care for safekeeping. They have been spawning and reproducing, and now thousands of juvenile corals are ready to go back to the reef. But what are the best ways to reintroduce them and ensure survival?

Check out our latest Science Snippet below to see our coral research teams work experimenting with methods to deter predators and keep the juvenile corals safe. Researchers will monitor their deterrent methods over the next year to determine the best way to protect the newly out-planted corals.
