ST. PETERSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT: Community service shines bright!

Fooddistribution

St. Petersburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 31.

Community service shines bright!

Despite threatening skies, SPPD and Feeding Tampa Bay's mobile pantry "Rain Date Make-up" Day went off without a hitch Tuesday, August 30.

Volunteers, including St. Petersburg police officers, distributed food items to more than 300 people, spanning 84 households, in humid but dry conditions.

During summer months, almost daily rainstorms can put a damper on the outdoor food distribution event. So we love it when everything comes together on planned makeup days like Tuesday, when area showers were mostly hit and miss.
