Crossing Guard Appreciation Day Friday, Feb. 4!
Please take a moment to thank your neighborhood crossing guards.
Vanessa Hicks and Gerard Humphreys are among 73 crossing guards assigned to safely shepherd students across busy streets and intersections in St. Petersburg each school day.
Vanessa, who has been a crossing guard for nine years, and Gerard, a retired Pinellas County jail employee who became a crossing guard in January, ensure students at the intersection of 54th Avenue and 16th Street North have a safe journey to and from Sexton Elementary, Meadowlawn Middle, and Northeast High schools.
