St. Petersburg Police Department: Congratulations to Officer Julie Bryan on her retirement!

Happy retirement

St. Petersburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 01.

Congratulations to Officer Julie Bryan on her retirement!

Officer Bryan grew up in Illinois and ended up at the University of Tampa on a basketball scholarship.  Her interest in law enforcement was sparked when she met her boyfriend who was a St. Petersburg Police Officer.

Soon after, she was hired by SPPD and sworn in as a police officer on June 19, 1995.

After patrolling as a street cop for a while, she became a Field Training Officer. She taught newer officers safety and efficiency in her straightforward manner.

Officer Bryan was a detective in the Personal Violence Unit where she investigated some of the most difficult cases and put away numerous criminals. She was also on the Downtown Deployment Team where she patrolled St. Pete in a cart solving problems and getting to know the homeless population.

During her 27 years of service, she was a member of the Honor Guard and the Mounted Patrol Unit. She was a Mobile Field Force and Firearms Instructor, and taught many officers CPR.

Officer Bryan was recognized many times for her professionalism and dedication. Her file is filled with commendations from citizens, supervisors, and dignitaries.

Thank you, Julie, for your outstanding service and for all of the extra effort and heart you put into honoring the police department and your fallen colleagues by being an integral part of the Honor Guard and Team St. Pete Memorial Riding Team.

We wish you good luck in your next chapter.

Well done, ma’am!
