CITY OF PINELLAS PARK, FL: Cross contamination of foods can cause illness

City Of Pinellas Park, Fl issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

Cross contamination of foods can cause illness. Make sure to separate utensils, cutting boards and plates used for raw meats from other foods. Check out these other Thanksgiving food safety tips:

• Handwashing with soap and water for 20 seconds (or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol) before and after preparing, serving and eating food is key to food safety.

• Ensure turkey is cooked and has reached minimum temperature of 165°F

• Food thermometers are the best way to confirm that a food is cooked to a safe temperature.
