Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a U.S. Congress member representing Florida’s 13th district, has shared her thoughts on recent religious occasions and a significant event in the Catholic Church through a series of tweets.
On April 18, Luna expressed her wishes related to the conclusion of Passover. In her tweet, she stated, “As Passover comes to a close, I’m wishing everyone peace, renewal, and continued blessings. May the spirit of freedom and resilience carry us forward.” This message reflects her hope for sustained blessings and resilience as the holiday ends.
Two days later, on April 20, she commemorated Easter by quoting biblical scripture. She tweeted, “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” — Matthew 28:6. This reference highlights the Christian belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
On April 21, Luna addressed the passing of Pope Francis, mourning the loss of a significant religious leader. She remarked, “Today, we mourn the passing of Pope Francis, whose humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to spreading the teachings of Christ touched millions worldwide. To Catholics in America and across the world, I offer my heartfelt condolences and share in your grief.”
Anna Paulina Luna’s statements reflect her connection with her Catholic faith and her role as a representative capable of engaging with significant cultural and religious events. Luna, who has been serving in her position since 2023, succeeded Charlie Crist. Born in Santa Ana, California, and currently a resident of St. Petersburg, Luna graduated with a BS from the University of West Florida in 2017 and has a history of service in the Florida House of Representatives.
