Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 13th district, posted a series of statements on social media on January 6 and 7, 2026, addressing the passing of Rep. Doug LaMalfa and outlining new initiatives to increase transparency among elected officials in Florida.
On January 6, Luna expressed condolences regarding the death of a fellow member of Congress: “Very sorry to hear about the passing of @RepLaMalfa. He was such a kind and wonderful man. After I had my son, he would always come over to say hi to him when we would be walking to the floor. He will be dearly missed.”
Later that day, she announced collaboration with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on an ethics initiative: “Today I was proud to stand with @GovRonDeSantis to announce a new initiative in the state of Florida to curb stock trading for Members of Congress at the state level. And I am grateful to have the Governor’s support in our initiative to accomplish this at the federal level too.”
On January 7, Luna emphasized efforts for greater accountability: “Florida is done with the grift.
We are pushing real transparency so candidates tell the truth upfront, or face consequences.
Are your reps going to Washington to serve the people, or to trade stocks and enrich themselves? Floridians deserve to know. “
Anna Paulina Luna has represented Florida’s 13th congressional district since replacing Charlie Crist in 2023 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Santa Ana, California in 1989 and now residing in St. Petersburg, Luna graduated from the University of West Florida in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
