Anna Paulina Luna, currently serving as a U.S. Congresswoman for Florida’s 13th district, made several announcements on April 22, 2025, through a series of tweets addressing food safety regulations and population growth incentives.
In the first tweet, Luna expressed her concern over petroleum-based dyes, stating their link to adverse health effects such as cancer and behavioral issues. She pointed out the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) long-standing approval of these dyes in food products, saying “Petroleum-based dyes like Red 40 and Yellow 5 are linked to cancer, tumors, and behavioral issues—yet the FDA has let them poison our food for decades.” Concluding her message with a call for reform, she added, “That ends today. We’re done feeding our kids toxins for profit. Let’s Make America Healthy Again! @SecKennedy”
The second announcement came later that day, where Luna reported a significant policy shift under Secretary Kennedy’s leadership. In her tweet, she shared that the Trump administration plans to ban several artificial food dyes by the end of 2026. She stated, “BREAKING: Under @SecKennedy, the Trump admin will BAN nearly all artificial food dyes, including: Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2, Green 3, by the end of 2026.” Moreover, highlighting the long-term intent of this policy change, she mentioned, “The goal? Fix what’s in our food—not just approve more drugs.”
On the same day, Luna voiced her support for President Trump’s proposed baby bonus scheme, designed to address the U.S.’s declining birth rates. Reflecting on the importance of encouraging family growth, her tweet read, “I strongly support President Trump’s baby bonus for new mothers.” Luna emphasized the necessity of this initiative by saying, “America is facing a serious population decline, and this incentive is a crucial first step in creating bold, pro-family reforms that make it easier to start and grow a family.”
Anna Paulina Luna, who has served Florida’s 13th district since 2023 after succeeding Charlie Crist, continues to advocate public health and societal welfare issues. Born in Santa Ana, California, and currently residing in St. Petersburg, she completed her education at the University of West Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2017.
